Cas Catala is the closest villa address on this coast to Palma: hillside plots with sea views, around eight kilometres from the Cathedral, and the beaches of Illetas next door. Villas from one month.
Cas Catala is the quieter, more residential half of the community it shares with Illetas. Where Illetas is beach-led and busier by day, Cas Catala is gardens and villas on the slope above the coast road. It was developed in the early twentieth century as a villa suburb for well-off Palma families, and it has been international ever since; Calvia counts around 3,400 residents across the two areas together.
The landmarks are hotels rather than monuments. Hospes Maricel sits on the water with three private accesses to the sea, and further along is the Hotel de Mar Gran Melia. Platja de Cas Catala is small and rarely crowded.
The defining fact here is distance. Nothing else in Calvia puts you this close to Palma while still being Calvia: roughly eight kilometres to the Cathedral, about fifteen minutes by car, with the beaches of Illetas on foot and Puerto Portals four kilometres west.
Palma is about 15 minutes and the airport about 20. EMT line 4 runs into the city along the coast road, so a car is convenient here rather than essential.
Schools. Baleares International College’s primary campus at Sant Agusti is the nearest, a couple of kilometres east. Bellver International College at Cala Major is a little further, and King Richard III College and Agora Portals are about ten minutes west. Four international schools inside a ten-minute drive is unusual even by south west Mallorca standards.
Everyday. The Eroski at Bendinat is five minutes away, the public health unit is at Bendinat, and Hospital Son Espases is ten to fifteen minutes. Real Golf de Bendinat is two to three kilometres.
Spelling. You will see Cas Catala, Cas Catalá and Cas Català in listings, along with the combined form Cas Catala-Ses Illetes used by the town hall. They are all the same place.
Every villa is let furnished and equipped, with a minimum stay of one month.
Utilities are normally metered and billed separately, and cleaning frequency varies by villa. We confirm exactly what is included before anything is signed.
Five bedroom villas of 480 to 550 square metres cluster around €15,000 per month here, with the wider market running from roughly €12,000 to €25,000. Apartments and smaller houses sit well below that. Supply is thin and steady rather than seasonal: around ten villas on the open long term market at any one time.
One month. In practice most tenants here take six to twelve months, often while house-hunting or while a purchase or renovation completes.
The market here clusters around €15,000 per month for a five bedroom villa of roughly 500 square metres, with the wider range running from about €12,000 to €25,000. Smaller houses and apartments are considerably less.
Yes, and it is the best of our areas for that. The Cathedral is around eight kilometres and about fifteen minutes by car, and EMT line 4 runs along the coast road into the centre.
Baleares International College at Sant Agusti is the closest, a couple of kilometres east. Bellver International College is at Cala Major, and King Richard III College and Agora Portals International School are about ten minutes west in Portals Nous.
Officially they are one population centre, listed by Calvia town hall as Cas Catala-Ses Illetes. Cas Catala is the quieter residential side and Illetas is where the beaches and beach clubs are. Most agents list them together.
