Portals Nous is the marina village of south west Mallorca: a walkable centre, two international schools in the village itself and Puerto Portals at the bottom of the hill. Our villas here are let furnished, from one month.
Portals Nous works for long stays because it is a village before it is a resort. Around 2,600 people live here year round, and the shops, cafes and restaurants that serve them stay open through the winter instead of shutting in October. Over three months or six, that difference is the whole experience.
The centre of gravity is Puerto Portals, a marina with over 650 berths taking vessels from 8 to 60 metres, and more than forty restaurants, boutiques and nautical businesses around it. A municipal sailing school runs courses all year. You can walk down for a coffee, walk back up, and leave the car where it is.
One thing worth stating plainly: the village core is walkable, but the villas with the views are on the hillside above it. From Anchorage Hill or the Costa d’en Blanes side you will drive to the bakery.
Palma is 10 kilometres away, which in practice means 15 to 20 minutes into the centre and roughly 20 to 25 minutes to the airport. Close enough to keep a Palma office, gym or dentist without it feeling like a commute.
Schools. Both of the area’s international schools are in the village. Agora Portals International School is the only IB Continuum school in the Balearics, taking children from four months through to the Diploma. King Richard III College follows the British curriculum from pre-nursery to A Level. Families arriving mid-year usually start their search here, because a five-minute school run changes the shape of the whole day.
Beaches. Playa de Portals Nous, also called Cala Bendinat, and Platja de l’Oratori are small sheltered coves inside the village. Neither is a resort beach, which is rather the point. The beach clubs are a short drive east in Illetas.
Everyday. The Eroski Center on the Bendinat side is the full-size supermarket, open 09:00 to 21:30 seven days a week. Real Golf de Bendinat, an 18-hole par 70 designed by Martin Hawtree, is minutes down the road. Hospital Son Espases in Palma is about fifteen minutes.
Every villa in our collection is let furnished and equipped, with a minimum stay of one month. You arrive with suitcases, not a removal van.
Utilities are normally metered and billed separately, and cleaning frequency varies by villa. We set out exactly what is included for the villa you are interested in before anything is signed.
As a guide, four to six bedroom villas in Portals Nous and neighbouring Bendinat are advertised between roughly €7,500 and €15,000 per month, with front-line properties well above that. Supply is thin: at any given moment there are only a handful of large villas on the open market here.
One month. Every villa in our collection is let for a minimum of one month, and most of our tenants stay between three and twelve. We do not arrange weekly holiday lets.
Yes, all of them. Furniture, kitchen equipment, linen and towels are in place, and Wi-Fi is connected. You need to bring clothes and whatever makes a house feel like yours.
Four to six bedroom villas here and in neighbouring Bendinat are generally advertised between €7,500 and €15,000 per month. Size, sea view, how recently the villa was built and the time of year all move the figure. Smaller properties start lower and front-line villas run considerably higher.
Two, both in the village: Agora Portals International School, which runs the full IB continuum from four months to Diploma, and King Richard III College, British curriculum from pre-nursery to A Level. Baleares International College, Bellver International College and Queen's College are all a short drive away.
Palma city centre is 10 kilometres, about 15 to 20 minutes by car. Palma airport is around 20 kilometres, roughly 20 to 25 minutes. August traffic on the Ma-1 adds to both.
