Illetas puts you on a sandy beach on foot and at Palma Cathedral in about fifteen minutes. It is the closest of our areas to the city and the only one where the beach is a walk rather than a drive. Villas from one month.
These villas are in neighbouring areas, a short drive from Illetas.
Illetas, also written Illetes or Ses Illetes, sits on the hillside directly above a string of small sandy beaches. Platja de Ses Illetes and Cala Comtessa both carry Spain’s Q de Calidad quality mark, and Cala Xinxell is the third. From most streets they are a few hundred metres on foot. The gradients are real and the parking is very limited, which is exactly what keeps these beaches from filling up the way Palma’s do.
This is also where the beach club scene on this coast actually is. Balneario Illetas and Purobeach Illetas are both here, along with the Hotel de Mar Gran Melia, Jose Antonio Coderch’s landmark building that locals still call the chocolate block.
Calvia town hall counts Illetas and neighbouring Cas Catala as a single community of around 3,400 residents. Treat them as one place with two addresses, and search both when you are looking.
Palma city centre is around 15 minutes by car and the airport about 20. There is also an EMT city bus, line 4, running along Passeig d’Illetes into Palma roughly every quarter of an hour. That makes Illetas the one area on this coast where you could reasonably manage without a car.
Schools. Four international schools sit within about ten minutes: Baleares International College at Sant Agusti, Bellver International College at Cala Major, and King Richard III College and Agora Portals International School in Portals Nous.
Everyday. There is a small shopping centre on the Ctra. d’Andratx with a supermarket, pharmacy and cash machine, and the larger Eroski at Bendinat is five minutes west. The public health unit is at Bendinat and Hospital Son Espases is ten to fifteen minutes.
Golf and water. Real Golf de Bendinat is two to three kilometres away. Puerto Portals, with its full-service marina, is about ten minutes west.
Every villa is let furnished and equipped, with a minimum stay of one month.
Utilities are normally metered and billed separately, and cleaning frequency varies by villa. We confirm exactly what is included before anything is signed.
Villas in Illetas and Cas Catala are advertised from around €9,500 per month for three and four bedrooms, with five and six bedroom properties typically between €14,000 and €25,000. Across both areas there are usually only around fifteen houses of any size on the long term market at once, so the search is short and it pays to be quick.
One month. Most of our tenants here stay between three and twelve months, often while they look for something to buy.
From most of them, yes. Platja de Ses Illetes, Cala Comtessa and Cala Xinxell are a few hundred metres from the residential streets. The hill is steep in places, so it is a proper walk rather than a stroll, and parking near the beaches is very limited in summer.
Three and four bedroom villas start around €9,500 per month. Five and six bedroom properties with sea views are generally between €14,000 and €25,000. Apartments, if you would consider one, start well below that.
Illetas, Illetes and Ses Illetes are the same place, spelled in Spanish, Catalan and the local form. Calvia town hall treats Illetas and Cas Catala as one population centre, and most estate agents list them together, so it is worth searching both names.
Palma city centre is around 15 minutes by car, the airport about 20. The EMT line 4 bus runs into Palma roughly every fifteen minutes and takes around half an hour.
